“Hi- this is Barack Obama- do you need me to spell that?” was how an incoming phone call started for Wende one afternoon in 2007. As both the professional and personal assistant to one of the country’s most respected political consultants, Wende never knows who will be on the line, and where they may be bound. For over a decade she has been the best first impression and smiling, positive symbol of her organization to presidents, senators, corporate and community leaders.
After over 20 years working with high-level litigators and political officials, Wende joined Las Vegas-based advertising agency R&R Partners as an executive assistant to the company’s chief executive Billy Vassiliadis. 12 years later, she likens her role to that of a personal and professional air traffic controller, coordinating the delicate ballet of eight different branch offices, over 300 agency employees and the numerous clients, friends and advice seekers that orbit around “the Boss”.
Patience, excellence, attention to detail, flexibility and humility are the virtues Wende leads with by example. To face the challenges of the day, Wende relies on the skills she has learned professionally and the inspiration that comes from her deep interest and study of ancient history and philosophy.
While her greatest satisfaction is enabling the success of her many colleagues who have come to depend on her mastery of organization and logistics, Wende has also been a key mentor and teacher to others building their own careers. As R&R Partners’ Senior Executive Assistant, Wende founded the company’s Executive Support Network to help others develop the skills she has honed over three-plus decades working at the C-Suite level.
The challenge of always being on and ready for anything is one Wende exceeds every day. To paraphrase the words of her personal role model the creative genius Walt Disney, for Wende “It’s kind of fun to do the impossible…”
Wende delights in snuggling with her cat in her rare moments away from the office, or she can be found on the road traveling to spend time with her family and friends, who are always dearest to her heart.
